Question by i7msc15283: Golf question – putting ?
which is important, the speed or the line ?
how is the ball position determined when making a putt?
advantages of distributing your weight in a putt?

Best answer:

Answer by Golf ‘n Pix
Both speed and line are important in putting, but if you have to put worth on it then Speed is more important than the line. if you’re off on your read, your speed could be the difference for the ball going in or staying out. You can take break out of a putt by hitting the ball a little harder. Or add more break by hitting it a little shorter. Speed is the most important. But speed without at least a nearly proper line doesn’t do much good.

In putting, the ball should be positioned forward of center. How far forward is up to you. The best putters add a little loft to the putter when they make a stroke and this gets the ball rolling end over end. the roll is very important because that’s what determines when the putt will take the break and how much it will take. If the ball is skidding or is not rolling true, then it will affect the direction and distance of the putt.
To check this true roll- use the ball itself. Most balls have a manufacturer’s mark on the side. Usually it says the type of the ball (not the manufacturer’s name and number). It’s normally written in with a line or a dashed mark on each end. use this as an arrow. If you line that name up towards the direction of roll and you hit it properly you should see that name and mark rolling end over end and creating a line.

What do you think? Answer below!

Okay, well i am on the School’s girls golf team and i need to work on my putting any good ways? I want to switch ideas. I am going to try the old cup idea, also i dont want to spend a lot of money on this! please help me! THanks in advance! Oh yeah one more thing its getting too cold for me to just go outside and practice when its not for school practice. So i would like ways to putt inside! thanks

Best answer:

Answer by boyfaceddog
There are two pretty good ways to putt in the cold months. The time-tested cup-on-the-floor method, and indoor mini-golf. Both offer about the same experience, but the cup method, along with a deep pile rug, allows you to add difficulty to your putting.

Question by : Do hands go in front of ball in golf during putting?
I have slightly longer clubs than I kind of need and so when I putt I end up with cupped hands I think it’s called. I try to putt without doing that but it just doesn’t feel right and sometimes I end up with them still cupped. So I tried putting with my hands a little forward and I putt better. I just wanted to know if that’s okay or if it’s a bad habit to get into or if I just shouldn’t be doing it. Plus, if anyone could also tell me a good way to control my putting speed. Sometimes I go past the hole and sometimes I hit the ball short. Thanks in advance!

Best answer:

Answer by ELISE
i think its because you have positioned your hands incorrectly why you past the hole so often. but it also seems like you are not practicing the correct grip. do some research on the interlock grip and practice it for a while. you may very well find that your swing will improve. http://www.shopgolf.info also has some more golfing advice. i hope i was helpful
