Question by I’m gonna start another riot: More hope & change ? Convicted killer and illegal, is set free to walk the streets of America?
BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – After 16-year-old Ashton Cline-McMurray was brutally murdered, his mother took some comfort in hearing that at least some of her son’s killers would never walk American streets again.

It’s the reason why Sandra Hutchinson agreed with letting the purported gang members, several of them illegal immigrants, plead guilty to lesser charges. She says the prosecutor reassured her that, after their criminal sentences were finished, those in the country illegally would be deported.

“They said that they would never set foot, basically on American soil again. In other words, they’d be like in jail until they got sent back,” Hutchinson said.

It’s no wonder Hutchinson wanted her son’s killers gone. Her son was disabled with cerebral palsy when he was attacked while walking home from a football game in Revere.

“They stabbed him. They beat him. They beat him with rungs out of stairs. They beat him with a golf club,” Hutchinson said. “They stabbed him through his heart a couple of times. And through his lung. They stabbed him in his abdomen. He didn’t have a chance, really.”

The four purported gang members who killed her son pleaded guilty to lesser charges, from manslaughter to second degree murder, meaning they didn’t serve the mandatory life sentence without parole that comes with a murder conviction.

That allowed one of the defendants, Loeun Heng, to be released by the Massachusetts Parole Board last March. The illegal immigrant was immediately taken into custody by the U.S. Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

But instead of being deported to his native Cambodia, Heng is back on American streets.

Every golf player knows it from experience. Tensing up during play courts disaster. Your golf swing should be easy and fluid. But just how do you develop that kind of free swing?

The real pivotal center of the stroke isn’t the hands wrist or head. It’s the point exactly between the two shoulders. All of the muscles of the body are below that pivotal center in action and putting energy in propelling the club forward.

Now let’s address the muscles that are controlling the head. If you keep your head still, you can preserve the pivotal center constant in relation to the ball. Balance is paramount and if your arms are straight, the elbows are bent and you hit the ball at the toe of the club instead of the center of the face, this will give you the correct distance.

When you come back to the ball, there’s more power transferred to the arms by the shoulders and back when the arms are extended than when they are bent. So you have more narrowly a fixed guide for guiding the club and the club shaft when the club shaft and the left arm are in line.

When making the swing most players spend too much time on their address thinking about this angle and that angle. What results is they move their heads and stiffen their muscles. Where’s the freedom in this swing? You will be a better golf player the second you find the muscles getting tense at any point in the stroke find a way to loosen up because the tension will destroy your accuracy and reduce the power of your swing.

It’s an advantage to you to keep your arms well in toward the body, because it’s easier to control the amount of play you will allow the arms in the downward stroke if you’re coming down inside the ball than if you’re going beyond it. So you’ll only have to yield a little to reach the ball. But if you’re going beyond the ball you have to overcome the centrifugal force) (force which tends to pull the club outward) when pulling in the hands. So it’s a good idea to keep your arms in toward the body.

Let the centrifugal force carry your club out in the downward swing until it reaches the ball. Then you can put all your energy in to propelling the club. You won’t need much effort to guide it.

Also, make sure that you don’t reach for the ball in the address because that will stiffen your muscles.

Beginners usually swing too short. Because the amount of centrifugal force is so great, the beginner will involuntarily pull in his hands because he’s scared he’ll go beyond the ball.

If your hands and arms were in motion in the address it would be necessary to have them reaching for the ball. But since they’re still, the idea should be to obtain the easiest and most comfortable position so that as the player reaches the top of his swing his muscles won’t be tired from holding a set position. The angles at which you address the ball have little influence. It’s the way you take your gauge at the top of the swing that counts.

I also advise my students to keep their arms close to the body and both of them straight. The club shaft and left arm should be in line and kept parallel to the right leg. This will give you firmer control of the club with your left arm or guiding arm than if your left arm was bent.

If you practice these tips, your swing should become more fluid and free. Above all, relax. Breathe deeply. Approaching the game with a fun spirit encourages freedom of movement!

The fundamentals of golf are very different than many other sports. Take baseball for example; when you are up at bat to make your swing, your job is to hit the ball as its thrown to you. In other words, the game is built around your reaction towards what someone else is doing. You cannot make your move until the pitcher throws the ball to you.

In golf, however, you are the boss. You are in charge of making every move. The ball just sits there, waiting for you to make your shot. And you are 100% responsible for every play that happens. You cannot blame a bad play on a pitch, another teammate, or any other excuse.

This is what makes golf so difficult, and yet so challenging and fun to play. And on top of that, you have people watching you, all in complete silence. Talk about the need for focus!

A Positive Mindset Goes A Long Way In Golf

Golf requires that you focus and think about every shot you take. Of course in our comparative analysis of the sport of baseball, those players have to think about the mechanics of their game too, but they have little time to really focus and concentrate on what they are doing, as opposed to golf. They are conscious of the pitcher and the person at bat, but everything else is reaction.

Golf requires so much attention to what you are doing that any type of negative thoughts or worries can have a dramatic effect on the quality of your game. Doubt can easily seep into your mind, especially if you are still a beginner. Once this happens, your body tenses up, you may get nervous, jittery, and the next thing you know your ball has landed in the rough. Consider it to be the equivalent of stage fright. Yes, golf can be this difficult.

How can you prevent negative thoughts and feelings from happening while playing on the course? The answer is extremely simple, yet may be difficult to learn.

All you have to do is take action, and do so faster than your mind can start to consider any negative consequences of making a bad swing. That’s the thing about golf – you can literally think your way into a slump.

Stick with the basics and focus on simple movements that are repetitive. Keep your body loose and as you are preparing for your shot, shift the weight of your body from foot to foot, back and forth. Wiggle your club a bit and just loosen up, have fun, and stop worrying about anything negative. Just learning how to play a stress-free game may be the hardest lesson you learn in golf.
