Question by blue77: Information about a vintage golf club?
My dad found an old wooden golf club. On the head, it says “Special” “Warranty” “Hand forged” “J. A. Donaldson” “Golf Ill.” “Glenview Club” “Approach Cleek”
Does anyone know how old this is, or how much it’s worth? Any information would be appreciated.

Best answer:

Answer by JD
Usually the answer to these questions is “nothing” or “next to nothing”. Your club is likely worth something, however.

The value depends on condition but assuming it’s mint I see the similar club being sold online for $ 150, which may not seem like much but for a vintage club that’s actually a lot of money. Generally speaking, they’re rarely worth much.

See lot #118

http://www.golfforallages.com/cat118.htm

“MACGREGOR, DAYTON, OH: A virtually Mint New smooth face Jigger or Lofting Iron circa 1910-15 stamped “J A Donaldson, Glenview Golf Club, ILL”. This shallow faced beauty has no other markings, but the grip and shaft look like those used by Macgregor during this time frame. G-9+ $ 150″

It was a male vocalist, and the song started “We don’t need golf or tennis, and shuffleboard’s just fine. The only pool we have here, is the 8-ball kind.” I can’t find this in any lyrics database! Thanks!
It is NOT the Travis Tritt song “Country Club.” The lyrics start like this: “We don’t need golf or tennis, and shuffleboard’s just fine. The only pool we have here, is the 8-ball kind.” It was a male singer. And it was from the 1970s.
It is NOT the Travis Tritt song “Country Club.” It was from the 1970s, way before Travis was recording.

Best answer:

Answer by BoosGrammy
Country Club…Travis Tritt (1990)

Best answer:

Answer by Simone
Well, there just usually isn’t enough room in the city for a golf course, so you have to go out to the country to build one. The original Country Club was one of the first golf courses in the US.
