17 is a little old to be wondering about kiddie tournaments, which is really what junior tournaments are more intended for, and a little late getting into the game to be worrying about winning them. i think 16 is the max for junior competitions, once over that age players are to join the regular amatuer ranks, but you need to check with junior tournaments you are considering to know for sure.

18 is the max most places. to win one you could need to shoot anywhere from 4 rounds in the 60’s to 95 in a one day with some inexperienced players. there are many different tournaments available for all skill levels.
