There is one big thing that jumps out at me when you swing your club. The first movement I see is the hinging of your wrists. That should never happen, especially for an amatuer. Try setting your hands in front of the clubface to start slightly. When you hinge your wrists you are leaving the clubface open. It is very difficult to get the face square again on the downswing. When swinging the club back, just rotate with your hips and shoulders. Also, to create more speed, your first move on the downswing should be with your left hip. The hip should move slightly down and towards the target. If you keep your clubface face square and rotate properly then you won’t have to worry about creating more clubhead speed. You will get more distance from that alone. Once your are used to keeping the club on plane then you can try rotating more and, in turn, swinging faster.

I’m certainly no expert, just an avid golfer like you. I’d pony up to see a pro, that’s the easiest way to figure it out. But I did notice one thing, is the shaft you’re using stiff enough? It looked like you had plenty of club head speed, but the shaft appeared to be bending like a wet noodle.

First see your local pro. Golftec offers a good evaluation program & you get to see your swing on video. Check the flex on your shaft, you probably need a stiff. I did notice you are very handsy at first, this forces the club into an open position causing you to slice or fade. Try turning your chest and hands as one piece to start the move, then set the club a little more vertically. Your set up looks pretty good from what I can see.

I agree with the "seeing the pro" part. You have a good grip- the first step to a good golf swing. I didn’t see your legs or feet, so I don’t know what your footwork is like (maybe you’re not driving your legs towards the target? Unfortunately, that’s just an uneducated guess). Here are my opinions, but that’s only what they are… opinions.

I don’t agree with the "hips fully rotating to prevent a bad back" part- nothing I’ve ever read or seen has deduced that. The "reverse C" finishing position has had doctors and pros make that conclusion, however. The only thing I can think of in terms of your swing is to allow your hips to open 45* (while the shoulders rotate 90*) to build up that power-inducing coil.

Other than that, the only thing I see is that your shaft looks very whippy- like it’s too soft for your swing. Obviously, it’s going to whip, but it looks like it’s losing it’s stored energy by the time it leaves the screen… which could be a cause of you distance loss.

See the pro- for lessons and a driver fitting.

you hinge your rists almost immediately and that could cause problems for your accuracy but you didnt ask about that you asked about distance…im not really sure what to tell you about distance, maybe you could try to play a draw and let it roll a little further…260 is pretty good distance, also get a stiff shaft if you dont have one already

I wish I could see a a little more of you swing, id like to see you feet position. The very first thing i noticed is that your head turns off the ball on your back swing. I know you head is always going to move a little but your head pulls back and off the ball quite a bit. The other thing I noticed is that it looked like you were just a little bit off balance. I think if you made your stance a little wider it would help make you more stable and it would also help you to turn a little easier which would keep your head more still. Widen your stance just a inch or two and keep your back swing low and slow. If you do these two things it will help keep you a little more in balance and a little more pop to it.

Your picking your hands up real quick on the way back and there is a lot of hand action to early on the take away. Its not holding you back from distance but its not helping either. It would be nice to see you limit that lower body, but i know thats tough with a bad back. Your losing a lot of distance with you position at the top. Its to long, and its prolly across the line(pointing right of the target) There is a lot of rerouting on the way down that will have to take place on the way down to get into a solid impact position. Im guessing your hitting a lot of high blocks and snap hooks. Look at sean ohair and davis love on youtube. you have the same body type as them so there good role models
